⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Shocking levels of competence (in the good way)
We called JEP Electrical in the middle of a full house renovation — which, if you've ever done one, means the walls are open, the dust is biblical, and every tradesperson you meet either looks mildly horrified or quietly adds 40% to their quote.
Jack arrived, assessed the chaos with the unflappable calm of a man who has seen things, and got on with it.
What struck me most was the combination that's actually quite rare: Jack is both genuinely skilled and a genuinely decent human being. Every question got a proper answer, every concern was taken seriously, and when things got messy — and they did get messy — he had the good humour to laugh about it with us rather than sigh at us.
Patient? Thoroughly. Attentive? Absolutely. Trustworthy? We gave him keys to the house. If that's not an endorsement, I don't know what is.
Among the highlights was the EV charger installation, which sounds straightforward until it isn't — and it wasn't. Jack spent a significant amount of time working through the specifics, doing the job properly rather than just doing the job quickly. During this process he inadvertently triggered the burglar alarm, which responded in the way burglar alarms always do: loudly, persistently, and with absolutely no intention of stopping on its own. Without missing a beat, Jack located a ladder, scaled it, and decommissioned the thing at our request — combining the skill set of a qualified electrician with the quiet heroism of a man who just wants everyone to have a nice day.
I'm not going to pretend I understand what he was doing half the time — I know roughly as much about electrics as our cockapoo, and she spends most of her time looking confused by the toaster — but I do know everything works, nothing has caught fire, and the building inspector didn't run away. That's a win in anyone's book.
Trustworthy, thorough, and genuinely good company throughout a long and occasionally chaotic project. If you're looking for an electrician in West Sussex who will do excellent work, keep his sense of humour under pressure, and climb a ladder to silence a screaming alarm without even being asked twice — Jack at JEP Electrical is your man.
Just don't ask him to explain RCD protection while you're already emotionally fragile from ripping out a kitchen.
